Tennessee Association Joins Hometown Connections Network
EVERGREEN, Colo.— The more than 60 public power utilities in the state of Tennessee will now learn about the products and services of Hometown Connections through the Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association (TEMPA), the organizations announced today. Headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn., TMEPA will play an active role in advertising and promoting the growing portfolio of Hometown Connections products and services to its membership.

TMEPA is a membership association of 61 municipal electric power providers serving about 70% of the electric consumers in the state of Tennessee. Hometown Connections is the utility services subsidiary of the American Public Power Association (APPA), negotiating lower purchase prices from industry suppliers on behalf of all APPA members across the U.S. The products and services offered through Hometown Connections include meter reading systems/AMR, customer information software, broadband Internet over power lines, green energy programs, power plant engineering and construction, customer & employee research, and consulting in the areas of cyber security, energy risk management, broadband communications, and business strategy development.

Tim Blodgett, Hometown Connections President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “TMEPA has long been at the forefront of helping public power utilities in Tennessee perform at a superior level. As we continue to expand the Hometown Connections suite of products, including broadband Internet service over power lines and vehicle-based AMR systems, TMEPA will be a valuable partner, complementing the efforts of our local sales representative, Bill Moss.

Mike Vinson, Executive Director, TMEPA, said, “Our association is looking forward to sharing information about Hometown Connections in an official capacity. As our industry faces new challenges, we are helping TMEPA members explore new projects, new ideas and new opportunities. We believe Hometown Connections offers an essential resource for savings and innovation.”

Bill Moss, a former Executive Director of TMEPA, is the sales representative for Hometown Connections in Tennessee. Moss said, “It has been my honor to serve public power in Tennessee for over 40 years, and I look forward to working with TMEPA to explore how Hometown Connections can benefit the TMEPA membership.”
