SCADA Systems with Special Pricing for APPA Members
EVERGREEN, Colo.— Hometown Connections and Survalent Technology Corporation today announced a strategic partnership that will help members of the American Public Power Association (APPA) with their SCADA system needs. APPA members will be able to purchase Survalent Technology equipment, software and services from Hometown Connections at national group pricing. Survalent Technology’s SCADA systems provide automated, real-time monitoring and control of facilities for public power electric, water and gas systems.

Hometown Connections is the utility services subsidiary of APPA, securing discounted pricing, group packaging, and high levels of service for APPA members. Survalent Technology is a premier supplier of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to the utility industry. With 175 man-years of SCADA development experience, and a 100% customer retention record, Survalent Technology leads the industry in providing customers with superior SCADA solutions.

Survalent Technology has been serving the electric, gas, oil, water and mass transportation industries since 1964. Survalent offers two types of cost-effective SCADA software packages: 1) A Windows SCADA system, using Dell PowerEdge servers and the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system; or 2) The VMS SCADA system, using HP Alpha servers or the new Integrity Itanium2 Servers, the OpenVMS operating system, and either HP Alpha Workstations or Windows PCs as operator workstations. Both SCADA systems feature single, dual, and quad redundancy. Both software packages can be interfaced with WorldView, which is a full-featured graphical user interface (GUI). WorldView itself runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP and operates as a client to the SCADA host computer. The WorldView application uses its own local copy of a utility’s system map, on which it overlays dynamic analog and status data retrieved from the host computer. Utilities purchasing a Survalent SCADA system through Hometown Connections receive both factory and onsite training as a part of the purchase.

Tim Blodgett, President & CEO of Hometown Connections, said, “Through the alliance with Survalent Technology, Hometown Connections is making it easier and more cost-effective for APPA members to maintain the reliability of their transmission and distribution systems over a widespread geographic area.”

Steve Mueller, President, Survalent Technology added “Survalent Technology has long been focused and committed to public power utilities, and our 100% customer retention is testament to this commitment. The partnership with Hometown Connections further cements that dedication and ensures public power will get the best product and pricing available. With this partnership, APPA members can acquire the most reliable, most cost-effective, and the most user-friendly SCADA software and support on the market today.”
