Hospital users vote Philips ahead of competitors
Andover, Mass., USA – Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced that MD Buyline, an independent healthcare research company, has named Philips as the number one defibrillator manufacturer in overall user satisfaction, and in categories including system performance, system reliability, installation, training and service response time. MD Buyline’s latest vendor rankings were released in January 2007.

Philips HeartStart Defibrillators were ranked as number one in user satisfaction with vendor rankings based on MD Buyline’s User Satisfaction Composite Ratings. MD Buyline has over 3,200 hospital members and empowers their members to make sound technology and financial decisions.

“Philips is honored to be recognized as a leader in user satisfaction from a highly respected industry authority and our hospital customers,” said Michael Miller, senior vice president and general manager, Cardiac Care, for Philips Medical Systems. “This acknowledgement validates our deep commitment to customers and to the development of quality and reliable products that ultimately save lives.”

Philips offers a full range of defibrillators—from easy-to-use automated external defibrillators (AED) used in the home and community to sophisticated multifunction monitor/defibrillators used by healthcare professionals—each tailored to the needs, training and skill of a particular type of user, whether it be in the home or the hospital.

Philips is also a pioneer in resuscitation solutions with tools such as Q-CPR, the first comprehensive technology that provides real-time cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) monitoring and feedback for advanced life support (ALS) - trained responders. Q-CPR, developed by Laerdal and Philips, offers medical professionals corrective feedback on the rate and depth of chest compressions, as well as the frequency and quality of ventilations (breaths), encouraging them to adjust their technique, as needed, to improve CPR performance.
