MMWEC Joins Team Securing National Group Pricing/Discounts
EVERGREEN, Colo.— Massachusetts municipal utilities will be learning more about data acquisition systems, advanced metering and more efficient ways to manage electricity as the result of a new partnership between the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC) and Hometown Connections, a utilities service subsidiary of the American Public Power Association (APPA).
As part of the partnership, MMWEC will host local events and publish advertising, articles and other materials showcasing the portfolio of Hometown Connections products and services, which include supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, advanced metering over power lines and smart grid management technology. Hometown Connections also offers customer information software, customer & employee research, defibrillators, and consulting in the areas of broadband communications and business strategy development.
MMWEC, a non-profit, public corporation, is the joint action agency for Massachusetts municipal utilities, providing a variety of power supply, financial and other services to the state’s consumer-owned municipal utilities.
“This partnership will provide the MMWEC Members with opportunities to explore new technologies and other products that are focused on improving customer service,” said MMWEC General Manager Glenn O. Steiger. “By helping municipal utilities gain access to the utility products and services offered through Hometown Connections, we will further the MMWEC mission of enabling municipal utilities to meet their common service needs with greater efficiency and economy, improving their ability to provide excellent service to their customers at the lowest possible cost.”
Tim Blodgett, Hometown Connections President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “MMWEC has long been at the forefront of helping public power utilities in Massachusetts perform at a superior level. MMWEC will be a valuable partner in promoting our current and future relationships as we continue to expand the Hometown Connections suite of products.”
Hometown Connections supports APPA members, now including MMWEC, by securing national group pricing and service arrangements from leading industry suppliers of the products and services it offers.
