Promoting Innovative Products & Services in New England
EVERGREEN, Colo.— The seventy-nine community-owned electric utilities in New England will be learning more about advances in utility operations software, metering, and strategic planning as the result of a new partnership between the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA) and Hometown Connections, a utilities service subsidiary of the American Public Power Association (APPA).

Through this marketing partnership, NEPPA will host local events and publish advertising, articles and other materials showcasing the portfolio of Hometown Connections products and services, which include supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, advanced metering infrastructure over power lines, intelligent grid management over power lines, and smart grid software. Hometown Connections also offers online energy audits & information, customer & employee research, defibrillators, and consulting in the areas of broadband communications and business strategy development.

NEPPA is a full-service professional organization serving and representing the interests of the consumer-owned electric utilities, cooperatives and joint action agencies in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

“NEPPA’s primary mission is to use the combined strength of its membership to serve as a regional network for information sharing and collective action,” said Patrick Hyland, Executive Director. “By supporting the marketing efforts of Hometown Connections, we’ll be helping NEPPA members to obtain superior products and services at national group pricing, to manage their utilities successfully, and to serve the best interests of their customers.”

Tim Blodgett, Hometown Connections President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “NEPPA plays a vital role in the ability of public power utilities in New England to deliver low-cost, reliable electric service. NEPPA will be a valuable partner as we continue to refine and expand the Hometown Connections suite of products to meet the ever changing needs of public power managers and their communities.”

Hometown Connections supports APPA members, now including NEPPA, by securing national group pricing and service arrangements from leading industry suppliers of the products and services it offers.
