AUSTIN, TX—July 25, 2018—Today during the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Texas Public Power Association (TPPA), Bill Smart of Hometown Connections received the TPPA Honor Roll Award. Each year, TPPA recognizes individuals and organizations for their accomplishments and contributions to their communities and to public power. This year, TPPA selected Mr. Smart in recognition of his service to TPPA by an employee or official of a TPPA member system or corporate member.
Currently Senior Vice President of Business Development, Mr. Smart is a 20-year employee of Hometown Connections, a non-profit utility services organization offering guidance and access to quality products and services from a trusted entity with public power’s best interests in mind. He has worked closely with Debra Scarbo, TPPA’s Operations Manager, and the TPPA membership since the Association became a Hometown Connections Marketing Affiliate in 2002. As a Marketing Affiliate, TPPA helps to bring innovative products and services to the TPPA membership. The products and services offered through Hometown Connections include a full range of advanced grid solutions, as well as training and consulting support in the areas of strategic planning, governance development, customer service, market research, and staffing.
Texas Public Power Association
Formed in 1978, TPPA represents the interests of public power providers in the state of Texas including municipally owned electric utilities, river authorities, joint action agencies, and some electric cooperatives. TPPA provides resources through which members may extend their influence on public policy matters affecting the public power industry.
