SMMPA to Promote Products & Services Tailored to Public Power
February 13, 2017 — To help its members obtain utility management and operations support from a trusted resource, the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) has joined the marketing affiliate program of Hometown Connections, the utility services subsidiary of the American Public Power Association. SMMPA will provide promotional services, explaining how members may access through Hometown Connections discount pricing from the industry’s leading vendors, as well as consulting support in the areas of organization assessment, strategic planning, governance training, market research, and workforce solutions.
SMMPA generates, transmits, and sells reliable wholesale electricity to its 18 municipally-owned member utilities, while providing a variety of programs and services aimed at helping customers use energy more wisely. SMMPA joins a network of 21 public power state associations and joint action agencies providing advertising, editorial, and educational programming that profiles the benefits of Hometown Connections products and services.
“The SMMPA mission is directly in sync with the mission of Hometown Connections,” said David P. Geschwind, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer. “Our joint action agency employs a combination of collaboration, innovation, integrity, service, and value to help member utilities overcome challenges to providing reliable and affordable electric service to their customers. The staff of Hometown Connections adheres to these same principles, having spent nearly 20 years focusing on municipal utility management best practices and helping hundreds of public power systems obtain the products and services they need to improve their operations and customer services. We look forward to helping our SMMPA members take advantage of all that Hometown has to offer.”
“Hometown Connections is delighted to partner with SMMPA in support of their membership,” said Tim Blodgett, President and CEO. “As we develop relationships with SMMPA members, we will receive very valuable insight into their opportunities and challenges, helping Hometown to target our products and services in ways that meet the needs of public power in Minnesota and across the United States.”
