Hometown Connections, Inc., is honored to welcome to the staff William Acee as sales representative for the New England region, New York, and New Jersey. Since 1990, Bill Acee has been committed to local government in the Village of Sherburne, NY, and has been closely involved with public power at the local, state and national levels. He has served the village for thirty years and has been integrally involved all aspects of the village’s utility operations including capital planning, economic development, succession planning and training, technology adoption, and energy efficiency programming.
For the Village of Sherburne, Mr. Acee has served on the Village Board of Trustees and as Mayor. At the state level, Mr. Acee has served as vice-president on the board of the Municipal Electric Utilities Association of New York State (MEUA). During his tenure with MEUA, this state-wide association oversaw the creation of the joint action agency, the New York Municipal Power Agency (NYMPA), which today provides supplemental power to 37 municipal electric systems in the state. Mr. Acee has also served as the administrator for the New York Association of Public Power (NYAPP), which is composed of nine municipal electric utilities and four rural electric cooperatives.
Mr. Acee’s activities have positioned him as a policy expert more broadly. He has served as the past chair of the Policy Makers Council and Board Member of the American Public Power Association, instrumental in the formulation of policy positions across a wide range of topics that affect the future of the industry. In 2018, he completed the Legislative Energy Horizon Institute’s course consisting of two 30-hour classroom sessions in Richland, Washington, and in Washington, D.C. that explore electricity, oil and gas infrastructure, how the infrastructure is built, and the effect of market and regulatory forces.
“Bill Acee brings to Hometown Connections a wealth of experience on energy issues in New York and the nation, both as an administrator responsible for the optimal functioning of local public utilities and as a policymaker, influencing the evolving regulatory landscape,” said Tim Blodgett, President and CEO. “We are honored to welcome Bill to our staff. We look forward to Bill serving as an ambassador for Hometown products and services in New York, New Jersey, and throughout New England, helping ensure we meet the needs of community-owned utilities in his region.”
