Arthur Bishop currently serves as the Vice President of Compliance and Distribution Services at Energy Southeast, where he supports regulatory compliance activities for the organization and its Members. In this role, he also coordinates programs and services designed to enhance the operation, efficiency, and reliability of Members’ electrical distribution systems.
In addition to his compliance responsibilities, Mr. Bishop also assists in supporting Energy Southeast’s transmission needs for Member delivery points, organization-owned generation, and contract generation. His work also spans oversight of the SCADA system, delivery point metering, and implementation of the organization’s Resource Management Plan. He contributes to several strategic initiatives, including the Renewable Behind- the-Meter Generation (RBtMG) program, the development and maintenance of Solar Research Parks, and the facilitation of the EV Working Group. He also leads efforts to analyze and provide data in collaboration with Members and other Energy Southeast departments.
Mr. Bishop brings more than 25 years of experience in the municipal electric utility industry. He joined Energy Southeast in 2000 as an Engineer I and has held a variety of roles throughout his tenure, including Senior Operations Engineer in Operations and Senior Operating Engineer in Power Supply and Planning. He has also served as Energy Southeast’s Vice President of Transmission and Distribution Technology Support.
Mr. Bishop is a member of the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Electric Vehicle Interest Group, the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) ZEVSE Advisory Group, the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) Community Solar Interest Group, and he participates in the Transmission Access Policy Study (TAPS) Group.
He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems from Mississippi State University.
He and his wife, D’Leigh, reside in Verbena with their four children. They are members of First Assembly of God in Clanton.
