Exacter/HCI Partnership News Release
Exacter Technology Prevents Outages Before They Occur by Identifying Overhead Locations Emitting Pre-Fail Signatures
The Strategy
The strategy is much like vegetation management, but instead of removing tree branches from the right of way, Exacter identifies deteriorating equipment emitting pre-fail signatures (arcing, leaking, or tracking) that you can remove from the overhead. By removing outage threats from the grid, you are preventing future outages before they occur – making he grid more reliable.
How it Works
Exacter vehicles drive circuit routes at posted speeds. When a failure signature from overhead equipment is detected, a GPS location is marked recorded, and uploaded to the Exacter server. Once locations are confirmed, Exacter field teams go to the GPS locations & identify the specific components emitting pre-fail electrical signatures.
The Deliverables
The Exacter deliverables include a.photo of the equipment that is arcing, tracking or leaking, 2) the pole number, 3) the GPS coordinates, 4) street location, and 5) description of the type of equipment found to be at risk. Reports are created in PDF, KMZ, and CSV and can be integrated into existing OMS and GIS work planning systems.
Exacter Customers
Some Exacter Municipal Customers include:

How to Begin
It begins with a simple conversation to discuss your goals for reliability. From there we work with you to target the circuits and locations that will provide the most impact –either using Exacter Predictive Analytics from your OMS data, or your tribal knowledge of the system.
